Two of the strongest and most athletic women in the world, Venus and Serena Williams are badass vegans serving up unforgettable swings. The tennis legends are two of the best female players in the world, ranking no. 1 multiple times individually and together in singles and doubles, winning dozens of Grand Slam finals in the Women’s Tennis Association and winning gold medals in the 2000, 2008 and 2012 Summer Olympics.

The Williams sisters journey to vegan came after a health scare in 2011 when Venus was diagnosed with Sjögren’s Syndrome, a debilitating autoimmune disease. The tennis pro was athletically unable to perform and ultimately lead her to withdraw from the 2011 U.S. Open in the second round. The one time champion was able to manage the disease through a Raw Vegan diet and in 2012, she jumped from outside the top 100 to finish the year at no. 24, just one year after diagnosis. Who says plants can’t heal?

In support of her sister, Serena joined in on her plant-based journey and the two have never looked back. Their energy is up, their game is on point and they genuinely love fueling their body with healthy, vibrant foods.

[Eating plant-based] definitely changed my whole life. It changed the pace that I live at. It changed everything.
